Product Overview

Product description

Miles® Ethylene Glycol Industrial Grade is a high-purity, versatile glycol designed for a broad range of industrial and commercial applications. It is a clear, colorless, hygroscopic liquid with low volatility, excellent water solubility, and strong heat-transfer and solvent characteristics.

It is commonly used as a heat-transfer fluid, an antifreeze and coolant component, a chemical intermediate, and a raw material in numerous industrial formulations.

Chemical name 1,2-Ethanediol / Ethylene Glycol (MEG)
CAS number 107-21-1
Chemical formula C2H6O2
Molecular weight 62.07 g/mol

Typical applications

Miles® Ethylene Glycol Industrial Grade is suitable for use in applications including:

  • Industrial heat-transfer fluids
  • Automotive and industrial antifreeze and coolant formulations
  • Deicing and anti-icing formulations
  • Unsaturated polyester resins and PET intermediates
  • Paints and coatings
  • Liquid detergents and cleaners
  • Chemical intermediates
  • Industrial solvents and coupling agents
  • Electrolytic capacitor manufacturing
  • General industrial processing

Product features

  • High purity
  • Excellent water miscibility
  • Low volatility
  • Low vapor pressure
  • Excellent solvent and coupling properties
  • Good heat-transfer characteristics
  • Wide useful temperature range
  • Hygroscopic
  • Suitable for numerous industrial formulations

Storage and handling

Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area — ideally under an inert (nitrogen) atmosphere for longer-term color stability.

Ethylene glycol is hygroscopic and can absorb moisture from the atmosphere, so containers should remain sealed when not in use. Keep the material in the anhydrous state to help prevent corrosion to carbon steel or aluminum tanks and related equipment. Avoid contamination with incompatible materials.

Consult the applicable Miles® Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling, storing, or using this product.

Available packaging

  • 55-gallon drums
