Shell Rotella ELC Extended Life Coolant/ Antifreeze is a "Fill for Life" carboxylate Based Coolant for Heavy Duty Diesel, Gasoline and Natural gas Powered Engines. Shell Rotella ELC Contains Ethylene Glycol and Nitrite and molybdate as secondary Inhibitors. This Product Requires no traditional SCA additions and Contains no silicate, Borate, nitrate or Phosphate. Shell Rotella ELC Extended Life Coolant Meets all the Requirements of CAT EC-1, TMC RP 329 and RP 338.

 

Performance & Features

• Service life up to 1,000,000 km (600,000 miles) with one extender at mid-life
• No Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA) required
• Excellent protection against:
  • Cylinder liner pitting
  • Corrosion of cooling system metals
  • Water pump wear
• Improved heat transfer (~8% better than conventional coolants)
• Reduces:
  • Hard water scale
  • “Green goo” / silicate gel formation
• Low dissolved solids → longer seal and pump life

 

Compatibility

• Compatible with conventional coolants (limited mixing ≤15%)
• Mixing reduces or eliminates extended-life benefits
• Can be used for top-up, but SCA may be required if mixing with non-ELC coolant

Maintenance Guidelines

• Replace after:
  • ~1,000,000 km (on-road) or 12,000 hours (off-road)
• One ELC extender added at ~500,000 km
• Check coolant condition:
  • Color: red
  • Freeze point range: ~ -26°C to -51°C
• Do not over-dilute beyond 15% with water or incompatible coolant

WARNING:
Causes skin irritation. Causes eye irritation. Wash after handling. Wear protective gloves/ protective clothing/ eye protection. IF ON SKIN, wash with plenty of soap and water. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant.
