Product description

Miles^® Hexane is a colorless, highly volatile aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent with a faint gasoline-like odor. Commercial hexanes are a mixture that is typically more than 60% n-hexane, with other C6 isomers.

It is used for extraction (such as edible oils and essential oils), chemical synthesis, and precision cleaning. It is extremely flammable, and its vapors can travel to distant ignition sources.

Typical applications

Miles^® Hexane is suitable for use in applications including:

Product features

• Highly volatile (boiling point about 67–69°C), so it evaporates quickly
• Low density (about 0.66 g/mL) and insoluble in water
• Effective non-polar solvent for extraction work
• Compatible with HDPE and glass containers

Storage and handling

Store in tightly closed containers (such as HDPE or glass) in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from all ignition sources. Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash back.

Ground and bond containers during transfer.
